Barracudas Update
Dear Swim Team Families,
What a great meet last night! It was so exciting to watch so many close races and see our swimmers competing hard from start to finish. While we did not come away with the win, we could not be more proud of our team. When you consider that we had 59 swimmers competing against a team with 104 swimmers, our athletes put together an incredible showing.
And speaking of 104 swimmers, how nice would it be to have that many swimmers and all of those additional parents volunteering as well?! When they handed me the ribbons at the end of the night, I asked how they did that so quickly, and they even have volunteers doing ribbons as the meet is going on!
We did have several disqualifications in the medley relays related to breaststroke. I know the coaches spent time focusing on those details during practice last week, and I expect you will continue to see an emphasis on proper technique moving forward. The good news is that we saw significantly fewer DQs in the individual events, which is a testament to the hard work our swimmers and coaches are putting in.
Even more exciting, Coach Lily is reaching out to some of her NC State swimming teammates, including members of the men's team, about coming to Bentwinds for a special technique clinic. Stay tuned for more details because this is definitely a practice you will not want to miss!
Also, as some of you may have heard, I personally disqualified the Bella Casa coaches' relay team for taking a running start. Therefore, I am officially awarding that victory to our Ladies Coaches Team with Brooklynn Beaird subbing in while Coach MJ was sidelined!
A quick administrative note: Mia has recently posted concession charges from the past few meets. If you see a charge on your member account listed as "Pool Check-In," please review the details, which should identify swim team concession.
We are excited to be back at home next Tuesday! Please remember to log in and declare your swimmers as soon as possible.
As always, if there is anything we can do for your family, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Go Barracudas!
