Team Handbook
Team Rules
Swim team members must be 4-18 years old and members of Bentwinds Golf & Country Club (BCC). Qualifying BCC memberships are full golf and sports only.
Parents/guardians of swim team members are expected to help during 3 or more swim meets. (The number of swim meets at which parents/guardians must volunteer may be adjusted depending on the number of swim team members and weather postponements. Please do not ignore our pleas for help after fulfilling 3 volunteer requirements.) BCC encourages the Barracudas swim team by opening its facilities for swim team use, but the swim team is mostly operated by volunteers.
Swim team coaches will determine, at their discretion, which swimmers will participate in main events. Please be respectful of their decisions.
To participate in swim meets, all swimmers over the age of 6 must be able to swim unassisted at least one full length of the pool. Swimmers 6 years old and under must be able to float without assistance. At swim meets, 6 & Unders must be able to swim half the length of the pool unassisted in main events (races that score points for an event) or half the length of the pool with minimal assistance during heats.
On swim meet days please rest rather than playing outside in the heat and humidity.
During swim meets, only the swimmers participating in the current race may be in the pool. Teammates, family members and spectators may not dangle legs or arms in any part of the pool during swim meets. THIS INCLUDES THE DIVING WELL AND SHALLOW END. (This is a TSA rule.)
No one is permitted to go beyond the Kid Pusher team benches or staging area during swim meets, except for Clerk of Course, Kid Pushers, TSA rep., and swimmers. (This is a TSA rule).
The use of alcohol and tobacco or vapor products are prohibited during swim meets. (This is a TSA rule.)
